Wednesday Miscellany: Knitting Out Loud

It's been awhile since Wednesday Miscellany has made an appearance. But a few items have come across the transom recently that bear mentioning:

1. K*4*O*T Marathon: The Denver Public Library has spearheaded a Knitting for Our Troops effort with the goal of knitting 5,280 helmut liners/beanies for our men and women in service. Starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 and running through 6 p.m. on Jan. 24, knitters all over the city and state will be throwing and picking for the troops. KIP or KI-in private, doesn't matter. There are tons of venues, including a jazz bar, cupcake shop, libraries and a smattering of metro-area yarn shops, including our very own Posh. Discounts are to be had.

Register online to participate as some locations have limited seating. Then pick up your official K4OT pin at the Central Library downton. If you're not a Mile High City denizen, I suspect they'd take imports. Send to: Fresh City Life, Central LIbrary, 10 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy., Denver, CO 80204.

Download knitting and crochet patterns here.

2. The North Denver Knitting Guild meets tonight, 6-8 p.m. at Tenn Street Coffee. Cheryl Oberle will be on hand to talk about her splendid new book, Knitted Jackets. This is a small, intimate guild where the conversation is lively and far-reaching. Come see.

3. The Noni Laptop Bag is a serious contender. Thanks to Diana for bringing it to our attention.

4. In case you can't get enough of the Nake-id oeuvre in these pages, I finally went all 20th century and put up a web site. A WIP, for sure. But something.

More later. Ciao.

The Noni bag is great.  However, I'm thinking that maybe you should make a Nake-id Knits original.  Perhaps with cables?

Also, the bag with intarsia apples don't have to be made with apples.  Maybe put in a row of multicolor circles similar to circles on the Noni bag?
