Why-Be-Subtle Boa

Having scheduled a business meeting in the vicinity of a yarn shop, I couldn't not pop in. It was a busy Saturday morning and ladies were gathered around a table fashioning dramatic scarves from Pagewood Farms' Handspun Bouquet, a riotous, loosely spun super bulky embellished with felted flowers. (In red, these boas look like holiday garlands.)

I had to have some and picked the boldest colorway available--Fruitopia.

I couldn't make heads or tails of the free pattern but searched the Internets for instructions on "crochet loop stitch" and stitched the above by approximating the following: 

The boa worked up in a trice on a size J crochet hook over the long weekend and it cuts quite the silouette, don't you think?
