Wild Apples: Mom's tart new book

Mom's new book, Wild Apples: Reflections of a Thoughtful Life, is out. See? And it's an easy book to love.

Organized by the month, each chapter features collections of reminiscences, poetry, quotations and family recipes (I have no memory of February's Molten Chocolate Cakes with Raspberries and suspect this was something my grandmother thought about cooking) all dedicated to inspiring the reader to take time to smell the baking bread and develop their own philosphy of life.

I can certainly attest to the philosphy of life part. My brother and I were raised with strong moral compasses. As liberal as I am, I come down hard on the side of right and wrong regarding the death penalty (wrong), discrimination (wrong), infidelity (as understandable as it is in certain cases, it's not how you behave toward someone with whom you've taken vows) and a woman's right to choose (horrible and painful and not government's business).

These convictions evolved in conversations with my mother while she tucked me into bed at night; she knows what she's talking about.

Wild Apples is available from Amazon (paperback and Kindle), Barnes and Noble (paperback) and locally from The Bookery Nook.
